Presenter Spotlight: Krista Scurria, PT/ATP

Please join us March 9-10, 2018 at our 11th Annual Conference … “Facing The Future”. On Friday and Saturday, professionals will have the opportunity to hear from an exciting line up of experts in the field of brain and spinal cord injury while earning up to 12 CEUs. On “Survivor Saturday,” survivors will participate in hands on workshops, socialize with others and hear motivational and helpful presentations.. Krista Scurria, PT/ATP will be presenting to professionals on Saturday, March 10th at 10:00 am on “Let’s Get To Work”.

Krista Scurria, PT/ATP graduated from Saint Louis University in Saint Louis Missouri in 1996 with a BS in Physical Therapy.  She attained her Assistive Technology Professional certificate in 2012.  She currently attends Northeastern University in Boston and will complete her doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2018.  She is actively involved in Cure SMA, which is a non-profit organization, which serves to educate families and the community about spinal muscular atrophy and raise funds for research for a treatment or a cure.  She is currently serving as the Louisiana Chapter President.  Krista is actively involved at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville, and volunteers with MDA and the Children’s Neuromuscular Foundation.  She was appointed to the Louisiana Rehabilitation Council in March of 2018 for a three-year term, and to the Family Advisory Committee for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in August of 2018. Krista is married to her husband John and will celebrate 20 years in June.  They have two amazing kids, Joshua, 18, and Anna Rose, 15.  Both of their children have spinal muscular atrophy, which has be a beacon in her life. Krista enjoys traveling and loves to read!
