Jeffrey Watkins, M.D. will be presenting to professionals on Saturday, March 30th at 12:45 pm on “Complementary and Alternative Medicine After Brain Injury”
Dr. Jeffrey Watkins is originally from Dallas, Texas and completed his medical training at the University of Texas at Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and went on to complete his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He was invited to stay and completed a one-year fellowship in Brain Injury Medicine at the same institution. He is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and has also completed subspecialty board certification in Brain Injury Medicine. Upon completion, he joined the Neurology department at the University of Texas Health Science Center in the Houston Medical Center. There, he was part of the neurorehabilitation division to provide inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services for many patients with disabilities from stroke, multiple sclerosis, acquired brain injuries, and other neurodegenerative diseases. He provided education for many inpatient therapy teams, medical students, residents, and ancillary staff. He also was a contributor twice yearly to the medical center for both brain injury and stroke support groups. He left there in 2018 to join the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at Ochsner. He currently provides inpatient rehabilitation care to patients at the Ochsner Rehabilitation Hospital and does outpatient rehabilitation evaluations at the Ochsner Elmwood and Jefferson Highway locations.
