“Break the Silence: An Open Discussion about Sexuality after Injury”

Sex is not typically the first thing that comes to mind when you think of life after a brain injury. MaryEllen Looney plans to unveil this too-often, taboo subject and emphasize the importance of a using a multi-disciplinary approach in addressing sexual dysfunction, as an alarming number of survivors report sexual difficulties after injury. As the Clinical Coordinator at West Jefferson Rehab Center, with 15 years of experience in the inpatient rehab setting, MaryEllen plans to share her experience as an Occupational Therapy Practitioner and Certified Brain Injury Specialist. She has assisted with CARF accreditation surveys including specialty programs in Stroke, Brain Injury and Amputation, and has effectively empowered her team with a sexuality education program which she plans to share with you at this conference.
