How to Start a Support Group (98 KB)Any veteran survivor or caregiver of a veteran survivor of a brain injury is welcome to attend. It is presented by the Polytrauma team.
The goal is to facilitate and build relationships through shared experiences, learn strategies for coping with a new normal, and get education on different topics for overall wellness.
When: Second Thursday of each month at 11:00
Where: Survivors meet in Conference Room 1M 120; Caregivers meet in R1 House on S. Rochablave
Parking is available on S. Galvez Street

Caregivers Coffee is for caregivers of those living with brain injury, spinal cord injury, or stroke.
It occurs monthly on the second Tuesday at 2:00-3:00.

Dedicated to providing a comfortable arena for individuals with compromised cognitive and motor skills resulting from an acquired or traumatic brain injury.
Listen to Us Live is a weekly radio show on WHIV 102.3 New Orleans. Airing every Saturday at 11am Central, Listen to Us Live is hosted by journeyman Blues musician Red Priest to help promote awareness of the needs of Traumatic Brain Injury Survivors and the Acquired Brain Injury Survivors community.
Separate groups are held for individuals living with quadriplegia, those living with paraplegia, and family members/caregivers so that meetings can focus on the unique needs and challenges of each. Group meetings are led by two facilitators: a mental health professional and a peer with lived experience. Meetings are conducted in an open forum/conversational format and members are encouraged to raise topics and ask questions related to living with paralysis or caregiving that are of interest or concern to them.
